The opening scene of the movie is a three-minute computer-generated sequence, beginning with a view of Earth from high in the exosphere and listening in on numerous radio waves of modern programming emitting from the planet. The camera then starts zooming backward, passing the Moon, Mars, and other features of the solar system, then to the Oort cloud, interstellar space, the Local Bubble, the Milky Way, other galaxies of the Local Group, and eventually into deep space. As this occurs, the radio signals start to drop out and reflect older programming, representing the distance these signals would have traveled at the speed of light, eventually becoming silent as the distance becomes much greater. The sequence eventually resolves into the iris of young Ellie's eye as she is listening on her amateur radio set. source

Much of the material in this post I received from a reader of this blog many months ago. No doubt there are a lot of secrets hidden in the 1997 Film Contact. The film centers around the research of Dr. Eleanor "Ellie" Arroway. Arroway is searching for signals from alien civilizations and and not having much luck. She is mocked by her peers who call her the "high priestess of the desert," a hint toward her role of adept. Her fortunes change when she acquires a mysterious benefactor named S.R. Hadden. Hadden is a billionaire industrialist who in his own words "used to be a hell of an engineer." Eventually Arroway does receive the signal she has been waiting for and with Hadden's assistance she is able to decipher the message. It turns out to be instructions for building a device capable of opening a worm hole and sending a traveller through to various distant points in the universe, like the Bifrost/rainbow bridge.

The device becomes brilliantly luminous as it begins to open the wormhole:

The ship housing the control room seems to be pulled toward the wormhole device by gravitational swells:

The character S.R. Hadden is interesting. You see, phonetically S.R. Hadden sounds like Esar-haddon, an Assyrian king mentioned in the Bible:

Ezra 4:2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar–haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

Isaiah 37:38And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esar–haddon his son reigned in his stead.

Assyrian kings assailed the Northern Kingdom of Israel for nearly twenty years from 740-722 BC when finally after a three year siege by his father, Shalmaneser V, Sargon II was able to take the ruling city of Samaria. Forty years later Esar-haddon would repopulate the region of Samaria with captives from elsewhere:

In one of his conquests, Esar-haddon captured the ancestors of the Samaritans and resettled them in the lands that had been the Northern Kingdom, where the ten (so called "lost") tribes of Israel has lived. The region includes what is now called Syria....

Esar-haddon died during a foray into Egypt about 660 BCE, in the twelfth year of his reign.

Esar-haddon's father, Sennacherib, had destroyed the city of Babylon and the Entemenanki temple of Marduk. Esar-haddon restored both the city and the Temple:

Like Assurbanipal, Esarhaddon claims to have built extensively in the temple of Esagila, rebuilding it, he says "from its foundations to its battlements." He also claims to have rebuilt the ziggurat complex at Etemenanki and to have reconstructed the city's inner walls.

The reports of Esarhaddon's building activity in the temple-tower Etemenanki and its precincts are also corroborated by acheological evidence. In the Etemenanki complex itself, four bricks with Esarhaddon inscriptions were found in situ: at gate IV, a side gate leading from the east into the huge courtyard in which the temple-tower was located; in the area of gate IX, a gate leading from the south into the section of the courtyard facing the foot of the ziggurat; and at a a nearby point within the courtyard, just south of the ziggurat itself.

....The substantial number of Esarhaddon building inscriptions for Esagila and Etemenanki found in the city, a total of twenty-four inscribed bricks and one seal, many found still in siti, supports Esarhaddon's assertions that he sponsored the restoration of both buildings.

The Temples of Esagila and Etemenanki were both dedicated to Marduk and Marduk corresponds to Zeus and Jupiter.

Etemenanki

Many have cited Etemenanki as the Tower of Babel mentioned in Genesis:

Genesis 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

The precise date of Etemenaki's construction is not known and there is much debate. In order to determine whether it is possible for Etemenanki to have been the original Tower of Babel we must determine the approximate date of the construction of Etemenanki and compare this to information that can point us toward the date for the construction of the Tower of Babel. This source places the construction date for Etemenanki no earlier than the mid second millenium BC:

It is unclear exactly when Etemenanki was first built. A review article by Andrew R. George says that its builder may have "reigned in the fourteenth, twelfth, eleventh or ninth century" but argues that the reference to a ziqqurrat at Babylon in the Creation Epic (Enûma Eliš· VI 63: George 1992: 301-2) is more solid evidence, however, for a Middle Assyrian piece of this poem survives to prove the long-held theory that it existed already in the second millennium BC. There is no reason to doubt that this ziqqurrat, described as ziqqurrat apsî elite, ‘the upper ziqqurrat of the Apsû’, was Etemenanki. source

The Bible does not appear to support Etemenanki being the Tower of Babel either. Using Biblical genealogies the approximate date for the construction of the Tower of Babel falls between 2200 and 2500 BC, whereas the earliest date for the construction of Etemenanki is the middle of the second millenium BC. This is based upon the assumption that Nimrod was the ruler over the builders of Babylon, as well as the building of it taking place during the lifetime of Peleg. Genesis 10:25 and I Chronicles 1:19 both state that the earth was divided in the days of Peleg. This is a vague statement, but just a few verses later in the next chapter in Genesis we find the story of the Tower of Babel and the homogeneous family of mankind being divided both physically and by language in an instant of time:

Genesis 11: 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

The Hebrew word for "scatter" in verse 8 is "puwts:"

6327 puwts poots a primitive root; to dash in pieces, literally or figuratively (especially to disperse):--break (dash, shake) in (to) pieces, cast (abroad), disperse (selves), drive, retire, scatter (abroad), spread abroad.

We can find pyramidal structures all over the earth today that date back thousands of years. Could Babel be the epicenter for all of it? Is it possible that the scattering in verse 8 may have created this global network of pyramid cults? It seems that whatever God did was quite violent.

At this point I could cite a few sources for the dates of the tower building and the lifetimes of Nimrod and Peleg. I have decided not to do that because if that is something you are curious about, then you really need to do what I did and read a great number of sources. In the end I was convinced of very little other than the fact that no one really has any iron clad facts. At this point I am going with my gut instinct that Etemenanki was not the Tower of Babel, but an attempt to recreate the Tower of Babel that had been thrown down by God and the people building it scattered about the earth.

I will add one last point on this topic in regard to the Book of Jasher that you will undoubtably stumble upon if you take up this subject. There are two versions of Jasher: the first is called the 1840 version published by J.H. Parry & Company; the second is called the 1829 version (link) and it is published by the Rosicrucian Order. The 1829 version being published by the Rosicrucians should be a big red flag. AMORC is an Luciferian group that uses the Behediti Horus otherwise known as the winged disk/globe as its logo:

The 1840 version seems to have at least some support among people purporting to be Christians on the Internet. I find it to be much like the book of Enoch. Both of these names are cited in the Bible, although the Bible never states that Enoch wrote any book of Enoch. In my opinion both works also attempt to tie up a lot of loose knots left open by the Bible. The book of Jasher 1840 is patently false if for no other reason than it unabashedly attempts to vindicate Esau in the circumstance where he gave up the birthright. From Genesis we read:

Genesis 25:34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

But in Jasher chapter 27 we are told that Esau was so famished because he had just come from doing the Lord's work in cutting off the head of Nimrod. Sorry, this is where I stop taking Jasher 1840 seriously...at all. Either you believe the Bible or you allow your faith to be chipped away by Jasher's lies. Frankly, Jasher gives off the same air of falseness as both the Book of Enoch and the Book of Mormon.

It is a good bet that a lot of the occult practice that we see today can be traced directly back to the Tower of Babel and Nimrod. A great many writers have equated Nimrod with Marduk. Here we see how that the Egyptians may have transformed Nimrod into Osiris:

In Babylon he [Nimrod] was known as Marduk. By that name he became the "patron god of Babylon." He is also called by these names: Amarduk, Bel-Marduk, Belos, An & Anu (in Sumer south of Babylon) & Merodach.

Later the cults made Nimrod into the "god of trading," a teacher and writer. For this they gave him the name Nebo. In Hebrew "nebo" means "prophet," so Nebo is a god of prophecy too.

But as an immoral, ungodly and tyrant ruler, he is best known as Gilgamesh, the mighty hunter.

Those who built Etemenanki at least a thousand years after the time of Nimrod continued to embody his rebellious nature (Nimrod means "let us revolt") as well as a sinful desire to ascend into heaven. Like the builders of the Tower of Babel who called their tower the "Gate of God," Etemenanki means "temple of the foundation of heaven and earth:"

Etemenanki (Sumerian "temple of the foundation of heaven and earth") was the name of a ziggurat dedicated to Marduk in the city of Babylon of the 6th century BCE Neo-Babylonian dynasty. Originally seven stories in height, little remains of it now except ruins.

Etemenanki was likely built several hundred years prior to the 6th century BC and was only restored in the 6th century BC. Various theories exist in regard to who rebuilt Etemenanki, such as this article that mentions Nebuchadnezzar II rebuilding Etemenanki rather than Esar-haddon:

The city of Babylon had been destroyed in 689 BCE by Sennacherib, who claims to have destroyed the Etemenanki. The city was restored by Nabopolassar and his son Nebuchadnezzar II. It took 88 years to rebuild the city; its central feature was the temple of Marduk (Esagila), with which the Etemenanki ziggurat was associated. The ziggurat was rebuilt by Nebuchadnezzar II. source

It is likely that many kings contributed to the rebuilding and augmentation of the temple complex. Even Alexander the Great ordered it to be rebuilt in the 4th century BC, but his orders were ignored and he died before anything could be done. Men continue to build their own versions of the Tower of Babel, like this abomination located at Oral Roberts University:

Note the stars of Shamash (and the huge pyramid) on the two side buildings, which is fitting for Babylon. This is the kind of masonic garbage that you can expect from a 33 degree fraud like Oral Roberts.

After you wade through all of the literature on the matter, if you choose to subject yourself to such a thing, you will see that all-in-all Esar-haddon is a king who is known for rebuilding Great Babylon and resurrecting her monumental temples, one being Etemenaki. Various sources seem to get a lot of the details of who did what and when confused, but this one seems to sum it up in the way that I understand it to have happened:

...the Etemenanki temple tower was destroyed or plundered by Sennacherib - or so he claimed - but restored by his son and successor, Esarhaddon. The restoration was then completed by his son, Ashurbanipal, last significant Assyrian monarch, who claimed to have reintroduced the cult of Marduk into Babylon then subject to his rule. So essentially what we are attempting to do is to paint a pattern of continuity from the Genesis account down to the present day where men have attempted to rise to the Temple of God, in the Heavens no less, and dethrone God himself. Satan tried it and then Nimrod tried it. Nebuchadnezzar and too many kings to count have tried doing it. They are still trying today. Did they use technology of a sort back then in Nimrod's day? Did they use it before the flood? Has modern man weaponized the occult? I believe that the short answer is yes. Modern science has always been occult and the Theosophical Society summed it up quite well:

As the study or science of things which are hid and secret, occultism is a generalizing term because what is hid or secret in one age may readily be in a succeeding age more or less commonly known and open to public investigation. Many things that in medieval Europe were distinctly secret and therefore occult, are today the field of scientific investigation; and what is now considered to be occult, if science continues in its progress and research, may in the succeeding age in its turn become open and matter of common knowledge. Occultism then will simply have shifted its field of investigation and study to matters still more secret, still more recondite, still more deeply hid in fields of nature which are now scarcely suspected. source

I have suspected for some time that modern technology melded with the Luciferian occult could play a big role in bringing the wrath of God and final judgement upon the earth. Alice Bailey postulated nearly a century ago that science would discover the existence of the spiritual world and learn to unlock the doorway to that dimension:

The veil of the temple which divides the physical plane from the unseen world will be recognized as a fact in nature by the scientist. Its purpose will be acknowledged. Eventually it will be destroyed by man discovering how to penetrate it. The date is imminent. source: Alice Bailey, The Externalisation of the Hierarchy, 1957

Notice that she calls that realm "the temple." Is this the same temple:

II Thessalonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

It is a distinct possibility that this event described in II Thessalonians is a yet future event. It is also possible that it happened before, perhaps in the time of Nimrod. Are we talking about some type of Heavenly temple here?

Another topic that is directly related to this subject matter is the opening of the abyss of Revelation:

Revelation 9: 1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.  2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.  3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

What exactly is the pit? And what is the nature of its opening? Is it physical and will we see it open physically? Or is it on a higher plane than what we can perceive physically? Will it be demons entering this world as they always have to possess their human avatars? If the opening of the abyss is physical, then it seems that the tearing of the veil or opening of the abyss involved tearing time-space. In fact there is a project underway in Europe right now to do just that:

A team is planning to build an enormously powerful laser that could rip apart the fabric of space.The Extreme Light Infrastructure Ultra High-Field laser will be 200 times more powerful than the most powerful lasers that currently exist on the planet, says John Collider, a member of the team and the director of the Central Laser Facility at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Didcot. "At this kind of intensity we start to get into unexplored territory, as it is an area of physics that we have never been before," he told the Telegraph.The aim is to boil a vacuum. Vacuums are normally thought of as empty space, but physicists believe they actually contain tiny particles that pop in and out of existence, so fast that it's difficult to prove they exist. By focusing the ELI Ultra-High-Field laser on an area of space, the team believes that the fabric of the vacuum can be pulled apart, revealing these particles for the first time.The laser will be made up of 10 beams, each providing 200 petawatts of power for less than a trillionth of a second. As 200 petawatts is more than 100,000 times the amount of power produced by the world, the energy will need to be stored up over time in huge capacitors. At the crucial moment, that energy will be released to form metre-wide laser beams that will then be combined and focused down onto a tiny point. At that point, the intensity of the light will be greater than at the centre of the Sun. source

Do they really know that what they are doing is safe? Do they really understand the potential consequences? No, they do not. Just this past week there was a headline that read "Scientists find giant planet that should not exist!" What a stupid and dishonest statement. Of course the planet should exist and it does exist. The problem is that science, despite all of its models, maths and giant brained egos just cannot be big enough to admit that Science and scientists still do not have an inkling about how things work in this universe. They still get blind sided. They still get pwned! But they try to fake us all out and say that the planet should not exist. Come on get real. Maybe some day they will realize that such a planet existing when and where they thought it could not is very good analogy for their ignorance of the existence of God.
